From what I have observed from my mom - this world should have ended when she was younger and healthier. Now that she has health problems that most "worldly" people expect to happen at some point in their aging, she is shocked and terrified. This wasn't supposed to happen to her. When I go over to her house tho, I do hear about all the operations etc. that other witnesses have had...

Witnesses vying for "who has the biggest trials to cope with"
by stuckinarut2 init struck me that witnesses have mastered the art of revelling in "trials and problems" that require "enduring".
of course, the persecution complex, and the paranoia about these "wicked last days" no doubt contributes to this.. if one witness has some health issue, or if another has a family drama, they seem to revel in sharing these stories amongst their witness friends...almost in an attempt to elicit sympathy.. has anyone else noticed this?.
most normal people though outside of the org, simply recognise that life has its ups and downs, and need to be dealt with..

Haha weird indeed. If you had been an active JW, you might have thought "God has sent them to me to give a witness" Maybe Karma has sent the man and his daughter to you.
It would be a strange thing if ex Jw's published their own "sent by Karma" accounts. Unlike how the organization published their made up sent by god, flying book hit suicidal person who studied stories.

IF YOU were asked what was the key teachings of your faith? A JW would say "Wait, let me watch the latest broadcast and I'll get back to you"

Cart witnessing in the quietest in my suburb.
by fulltimestudent ini walked to the station yesterday to meet a friend, and on the way, in what must be the quietest street in the entire suburb, were two j.witnesses and their little cart, all set with a literature display.
i wondered what point there may have been to choose that location.
i felt like grabbing one of their bibles and reading matthew 5:15 to them:.

The only cart I've seen, was in San Francisco. They were right in the middle of tourists, beaming with big smiles. These were not the shrinking violets that most everyone has been talking about. I think the Brother was enjoying the attention cause he actively engaged people.
So there is always a rogue JW willing to go the extra "smile" despite what the guidelines are. Unless of course, the powers above decided that San Fran was a great place to actively barker their wares.

Help Finding Poster's Challenge
by Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho inhey guys,.
i've been trying hard to locate a comment that was posted no longer than a few weeks ago (if that) by a poster providing a challenge for witnesses to find one scripture that states that we are still saved/have hope if we are outside of this "new covenant" that wt claims is for the 144,000 only.
the thread was to do with ways we can wake up a loved one and this particular poster (i can't remember who) gave a step-by-step guide to helping witnesses waking up using their own bible and doctrine.

Well I think I found your post. But I can't cut and paste it. But maybe it isn't since it is old.
It's from a poster named Terry from 4 years ago. The title is "An open Challenge to active JW's"
Hahaha I'm crazy but I think this is the last try for me.

How to disorder a JW (family) chat
by Gorbatchov inwe all know the moment that a nice family chat is moving to the propaganda game.. sister in law saying that jw.org is the highest ranked website, cousing saying that the new hq is energy neutral, aunt stating that jw have the best education.... what can we say on these moments?.
that br splane just likes these new light ideas?.
that a jw.org video stated that jw use the name jehovah because people recognize this name?.

About the website - you could say I remember when the WT published a picture of computer cord likening it to a Satan snake. Now the WT embraces it and exposes all of it's followers to it's influences. (of course, good for finding out about the WT secrets and so bad for them ha)
My mom threw away a computer she had gotten for free because she was so afraid of the evil internet.

Cart Witnessing in Giethoorn, Netherlands (My recent experience)
by Alfred inso i visited the netherlands last week and decided to stop by giethoorn.
this is a town whereby many (if not most) of the homes are accessed by small boats via narrow water canals.
during the summer months, the residents of this isolated picturesque town welcome visitors with their seasonal tourist attractions such as canal cruises on eco-friendly boats, restaurants and a small museum which highlights the history of the town.

I like how they blended the cart into the tree. Even they kind of blend into the bushes. Hahaha how funny it would be if they actually hid in the bushes and only popped out when someone looked at the cart.
It reminds me of this (probably made up) story from the WT. About how someone visited a religious cave and was caught by their arm by a person hiding inside a small niche in the wall. They wouldn't let go until you paid for a small cross. Gives me the same pathetic feeling.

You know, I had something like this happen to me too. I couldn't find a post either even when I went back page after page. Then out of no where it was there.
The eternal triangle of missing socks, posts and car keys.

I tried using the phrases you had in your comment, but the problem is, 15 year old posts popped up. Since you cannot sort from newest, you have to wade thru lots of old posts. Even your post showed up on the second search page using your key words.
If you have time to sort of waste, you can start from the beginning and work your way back in each topic. If you have some idea of when you read it, like 20 days ago, you can just keep hitting the NEXT button until you get to that time frame.
It would be easier for you than me, tho I gave it a try. Just nothing to jiggle my memory since I didn't read that post.

Trouble in paradise!
by Confusedalot injust for fun, some thoughts about the paradise teaching:.
will all the carnivores be transformed anatomically?
if a lion is transformed into a herbivore would it still be a lion?

My picture of paradise was of quiet. People unafraid as well as the animals. I reasoned that if the bear was an omnivore, other predators could be that way too. Animal birth rates would slow down, the dead animals (and the dying) would be taken care of by previous carnivores now omnivores.
I thought of people spending their time with families and friends, inventing, doing art, traveling. I could spend a lot of time just watching bugs and gardening.
When the society came out with pictures of paradise being filled with meetings and studying yet more books - it reminded me of some twilight zone episode. You know, where you've sacrificed your money, time and family to get there - and it turns out to be another flavor of HELL.
